The Summer Youth
Program offers services to eligible youth ages 14-21.
This program operates during the months of June, July and August. Applications are accepted beginning the first
business day of
January.
The Summer Youth Program is divided into two parts: classroom training and work experience.
Classroom Training
This is a
7-week training program
for 14 and 15 year old students that focuses on academic and social skills. Field trips and guest speakers in conjunction with an individual educational development plan helps
students develop in these areas.
Work Experience
A 9-week training program
for 16 to 21 year old applicants designed to provide youth an opportunity to develop employment and work maturity skills necessary for future long term employment.
Applicants will participate in case management and orientation to place them in a job that best fits their career interests.
To
be eligible you must be American Indian or Native American, low
income and a resident of Oklahoma county within our service area.
